MEET THE HOSTS

ASHLEY

First Posh Match: Absolutely no idea. Genuinely. You’d think the moment I first stepped foot into London Road would be seared into my memory like a rite of passage, but nope – total blank. What I do know is that I got my first season ticket in the 2008/09 season, so chances are my first game was sometime the year before that. Evidently it was such an underwhelming experience that I decided to commit to a full season immediately after.

How did you first get into Posh: This feels like a therapy question. The short answer is probably: “because it was a good way to spend time with my Dad.” The longer answer involves years of trying to understand why we willingly subject ourselves to watching centre-backs attempt 40-yard diagonals like it’s Sunday League. But hey – family bonding, overpriced chips, and emotional damage? Sign me up.

Favourite Posh player of all time: Darren Ferguson. Player, manager, honorary mayor of Peterborough (probably) – the man’s done it all. Sure, he’s had more comebacks than your average 90s boyband, but he’s our boyband. Promotions, pitch invasions, last-minute winners, a bit of touchline madness… it wouldn’t be Posh without him.

Best Moment whilst watching Posh: Taking Imogen (my daughter) to her first match – a solid 2-0 win at home to Birmingham in the Championship. She loved it, I loved it, and for 90 whole minutes I managed to forget about our full-back’s inability to mark his man. That rare combination of family, football, and a clean sheet… pure bliss. Even got through the whole game without crying (well, just the once).

Away Day routine: Step 1: Leave far too early and irritate everyone coming with me. Step 2: Services stop – usually Rugby because, for some reason, I have an unhealthy affection for the M6. Greggs is mandatory. Toilet visit is a tactical one. Step 3: Roll into the away town, locate Nando’s like a seasoned professional, and then head to the ground an hour before kick-off to observe warm-ups like I’m a scout. Step 4: Spend 90 minutes moaning that “I could do better than that” from Row Q, despite struggling to run for a bus.

Random Fact: I once tried to calculate how many pies I’ve eaten at London Road and had to stop when I hit triple digits. Also, I firmly believe I could navigate to any away ground in League One using nothing but instinct and service station signage. I am the Rain Man of motorway cuisine.

HARRY

First Posh Match: Peterborough 1-1 Leyton Orient. Must have been in league 2. I remember us being 1-0 at half time, and I also remember thinking ‘this Danny Crow isn’t very good’.

How did you first get into Posh: As a young lad, I liked Liverpool, for no other reason than we had a Liverpool beach towel at home that a relative had gifted us. By 10 years old I really wanted to actually go to football games and my parents told me Liverpool was too far. So I asked which team was closest. The rest is history.

Favourite Posh player of all time: â€‹I should say one of the holy trinity because that’s the era I grew up with. But I think the real answer is Ronnie Edwards.

Best Moment whilst watching Posh: â€‹You may be shocked to read this, but it was at Hillsborough when Nathan Thomson put us ahead in extra time. I thought it was over, Sheffield Wednesday’s bubble had burst and I celebrated the hardest I ever had in my life. This ‘moment’ was very short lived indeed.

Away Day routine: â€‹Work as hard as humanly possible to get to the ground for precisely 3pm and not a minute earlier. Incredibly, I’ve never missed an away kick off. Rotherham last season I was saved by kick off actually being 3.02, I’d just got in in time to see kickoff, and Odoh’s very early goal!

Random Fact: About football? My great great grandfather was a founding member of the FA and the first chairman of West Bromwich Albion. Away from football, I’m an accountant so I have no exciting facts about me whatsoever.

CHARLIE

First Posh Match:  Peterborough 2-0 Preston - FA Cup 3rd Round - January 2016

How did you first get into Posh: My Grandad was a Posh fan, and so we all went into the hospitality bit with the roast dinner to celebrate his birthday one year. My brother and I loved it and so our parents took us back for a second time, and then a third, and so on… we never looked back!

Favourite Posh player of all time: Ronnie Edwards is the best player I’ve seen play for the club, and I feel like he may be the best I will ever see!

Best Moment whilst watching Posh: Tayo Edun’s free kick away at Cambridge in March 2025. Absolute scenes in the terrace, and on my 18th birthday as well! Literally the perfect away day for me.

Away Day routine: Sometimes I go in the car with my family, in which case it will be a nice late start and stop for some food on the way down before parking up and going into the ground. If going on train with friends, we will tend to leave Peterborough early and find a Spoons to set up in for the day before walking to the ground (I will also try and negotiate a trip to Greggs to pick up some yum yums). The day will inevitably end with us ranting about how much we hate football all the way home.

Random Fact: My brother represents England in Powerchair Football, and I have commentated on a Champions League and World Cup final in the sport!

JOHN

First Posh match: Peterborough United 2-2 Ipswich Town AET (Posh win on penalties) - 2006

How did you first get into Posh: My friend invited me to along with him for an evening match and after that I was hooked. Darragh MacAnthony also arrived at almost exactly the same time!

Favourite Posh player of all time: George Boyd. And it is not even close. An absolute magician.

Best moment whilst watching Posh: Old Trafford and the play off final against Huddersfield. It may never get better than that but what a special day it was.

Away day routine: I like to be in the ground early to be honest. Usually shout a bit at the referee, have a meltdown at Posh players making mistakes and then go home again.

Random fact: I went to school with Conor Washington and regularly played football against him in the playground.

DEL

First Posh Match: Peterborough vs. Torquay in 1983. We lost 3-1 and we had Dave Seaman in goal.

How did you first get into Posh: In 1986, we got tickets from the school and me and my mate Graham Edgar went to Peterborough 4-2 Mansfield and from there I got hooked.

Favourite Posh player of all time: Mick Halsall. He wasn't necessarily the best player of all time but if you wanted a captain to lead you, he was the one, he got stuck in and he was just an all round top bloke.

Best Moment whilst watching Posh: As I'm an old f*cker, it's hard for me to pick out just one. Obviously the Huddersfield away game that we won to get into the play off final in whatever year it was, 1990. Or was it 89? Might be 91, might be 92, I don't know, I can't remember. That's probably slightly better or equal to Colchester away when we won promotion. I was with Luke (my son) who was three at the time and it was the first time he'd experienced a promotion with Peterborough.

Away Day routine: Generally of late, I'll get in the car relatively early, find somewhere to abandon the car. I don't normally pay to park my car because I'm a tight arse. Then I'll have a wander around, maybe go to the pub and meet some mates and then I'll go into the ground, watch the game and f*ck off home.

Random Fact: I used to be a Littlewoods Pools Collector, one of my customers was Gerry McElhinney.

Also once when I was ballboy for a reserve game, the game changed venue from London Road to the training ground and Lil Fuccillo (First Team Manager at the time) invited me with them as his guest. I sat with the them whilst the game was on, got the minibus back with them to the ground, was invited into the team debrief and was shown around the changing room, proper special.

LODZ

First Posh match: Peterborough United 2-0 Bath City in the FA Cup, December 2004. Callum Willock got both goals!

How did you first get into Posh: My cousin would occasionally get free tickets from his school and we'd force our dads to take us. When we were old enough to go by ourselves, we both bought season tickets.

Favourite Posh player of all time: There has been so many but all time it probably has to be George Boyd. Charlie Lee, Gabriel Zakuani and Craig Mackail-Smith are all up there too!

Best moment whilst watching Posh: Probably Colchester away in 2009. Nobody was expecting promotion and we were all in fancy dress. Great weather and good vibes, cheers Walsall!

Away day routine: I don't drink much anymore so this is normally dictated by others, I just go with the flow. Either Ashley drives (in which case, his routine applies) or we get the train and sit in a Spoons for a few hours before the match. You bet I will be having some unhealthy food and a coffee at some point in the day though. The journeys are always made better by random conversations, impressions and games of No More Big Ears.

Random fact: Both my arms are double jointed.

MAX

First Posh Match: Peterborough 2-0 QPR, FA Cup, February 5th 2022.

How did you first get into Posh: I wasn’t brought up into a football family, It was American football. During my time at sixth form, I met Paul Starr whilst studying geology who supported Posh and urged me to go. Posh being my local club and the easiest to get to, me and a few mates went and since then I haven’t looked back.

Favourite Posh player of all time: It’s really close, but I think in terms of who brought me the most joy it has to be Ricky-Jade Jones due to him being one of the first goal scorers I ever saw. JCH being an awfully close second.

Best Moment whilst watching Posh: â€‹RJJ winner at Derby away last season. Going to uni in Derby was the cherry on the cake.

Away Day routine: â€‹I enjoy an Emerald Excursion but recently have been going with Ashley on the minibus to most away games. But really I enjoy a drink and watching the football which will come as no surprise to those who know me.

Random Fact: I hold the FC STICKERS record for the highest sticker placement from a standing jump.
