A few weeks ago, I asked a simple question: who from our current squad would fit into the Wembley double “Dream Team” of the 2023/2024 season?

When I wrote that, Posh had thumped Wigan, were climbing the table and looked like challenging for a play-off place.
Unfortunately, trips to Bradford and Barnsley were fruitless and fighting back to draw against Exeter ended any promotion dreams.
However, if every player were fit, I think we could beat most teams in the league.
I had fun thinking about which current players were better than that 2023/2024 squad, and wanted to know your thoughts via the voting system.
Here are your results.
Jed Steer v Alex Bass

There’s no surprise that Bass won by a landslide.
You don’t need to dig out statistics to know that Bass is a big upgrade on last season, and arguably one of the best keepers we have had in years.
👑 The winner is: Alex Bass
Harrison Burrows v Harley Mills

I’ll admit that choosing Mills over Burrows was a bit of a stretch, although accusations of clickbait are wide of the mark as I had a logical reason for my choice.
Many disagreed, though.

That said, after watching Burrows score, which condemned Wednesday to relegation, I have to
admit that I miss his prowess in front of goal.
👑 The winner is: Harrison Burrows
Ronnie Edwards v David Okagbue

I’m a big fan of Okagbue, and he’s becoming one of the better centre-backs at Posh, but the 12 people who voted for him over Edwards must have forgotten just how good Ronnie was.
His quality on the ball, his running out from the back, and his ability to split attackers with a single pass are some things we still miss.
👑 The winner is: Ronnie Edwards
Josh Knight v Tom Lees

This one was much closer than I thought it would be. While I picked Tom for his experience and leadership, Knight was a cult hero at Posh and gave us many memorable moments.
I stand by my decision, though. Tom is not only a solid centre-back, but also a leader off the pitch, which our younger players desperately need.
👑 The winner is: Tom Lees
Jadel Katongo v James Dornelly

It’s no surprise that Dornelly won the vote.
I think most Posh fans remember Katongo in his difficult second season and have forgotten his patch of form at right back that helped push us up the table.
It’s a shame he couldn’t stay fit with multiple hamstring injuries ending his time with us.
👑 The winner is: James Dornelly
Hector Kyprianou v Brandon Khela

Hector the Protector won the vote by a considerable margin.
While Brandon has huge potential and looks like another great signing, Hector was a better all-rounder, and you’d definitely want him in your team.
👑 The winner is: Hector Kyprianou
Ephron Mason-Clark v Kyrell Lisbie

If you compared Mason-Clark’s first season with Lisbie’s first season, you would pick Lisbie, who is already a very accomplished and skilled player.
It took a few seasons for Mason-Clark to hit his stride, but we all have memories of him skipping past defenders and placing the ball on a striker’s foot.
He was, and still is, very impressive when in full flow.
👑 The winner is: Ephron Mason-Clark
Joel Randall v Matthew Garbett

I can only imagine the 5% that voted for Randall are Bolton fans.
Randall had a run of about a dozen games where he looked like the complete No. 10, but more often, he vanished from games, was reluctant to tackle and tried to roll the ball into the goal.
Garbett is about to head into a World Cup squad, so he was the obvious choice.
👑 The winner is: Matthew Garbett
Kwame Poku v Cian Hayes

Since the time of writing the original article, Hayes has lost his starting place to Frith, although he still makes an impact from the bench.
But he’s not a patch on Poku, especially in his last season with Posh.
Most agreed, and Liam had thoughts on those who chose Hayes.

👑 The winner is: Kwame Poku
Ricky-Jade Jones v Harry Leonard

As expected, Posh fans picked Leonard over Jones, even though Leonard is more comparable to Jonson Clarke-Harris in how he drops deeper and holds the ball.

While Jones gave fans some great moments and scared defenders with his pace, Leonard is a better striker by some margin and more dangerous with 13 goals already this season.
👑 The winner is: Harry Leonard
Darren Ferguson v Luke Williams

While many fans acknowledged Ferguson’s legacy and contributions to the trophy cabinet; most picked Williams.
Williams was my choice based on his management style, which has turned Posh’s fortunes around.
It’s hard to believe that we were rooted at the bottom of the table and looked all but guaranteed to be relegated before the managerial change.
👑 The winner is: Luke Williams
Your Final XI
Here is your "Dream Team".
While not many of our current squad made the final cut, the new additions strengthened an already formidable team.
With Big Dave, Lisbie and Khela on the bench, rotating players would help us see the season out without dropping form.

The best of all time?
Many replies to the article called for a wider selection of players to incorporate the best of the Darragh era, or from specific decades like the 2010s, and that’s something I’d love to hear more about.
Would McCann get a place in midfield, and who would be in goal?
Who would make your best XI?
