UpThePoshcast spoke to Notts County fan Will Prosser about his view on Alex and what he might offer Posh in between the sticks!

Thanks for joining us, Will. Can you give us the rundown on Alex Bass’ strengths?
Great shot stopper, does the fundamentals very well and is also pretty tidy with the ball at his feet - was mostly to do with our style, but he was very effective at getting the game going again quickly with a pass or throw once he had the ball.
How about his weaknesses? Where does he need to improve?
Only weakness in my opinion is the lack of command he has in his box during corners. Rarely leaves his 6 yard box and led to us conceding a few throughout the season.
What was he like off the pitch? Was a good character for the dressing room?
As far as I can tell, he was a very liked bloke. Had only been with Notts for one season and very quickly became a favourite amongst players and fans.
What kind of impact do you think he can make for Posh? Is he League One standard?
Will comfortably make the step up the L1 - was likely the 2nd best keeper in L2 last year. We went from conceding 86 goals in 2023/24 to 49 in 2024/25 - he played a big part in that.
That’s great to hear. Finally, where does this leave Notts County?
Panic stations - Notts have formed the habit in recent years of selling key players for decent fees but not reinvesting in the squad. Bass was the first good keeper we’ve had since 2013, so the fan base are livid we’ve let him go.
Summary
The reaction online, and from Will in our interview here, suggest Posh have got a real gem in 27-year-old Alex Bass. We have desperately needed a reliable keeper for many years, and this could finally be the long-term answer to fill the net at London Road.
