Why I'm especially looking forward to Lincoln away

I love an away day.
One of my favourite away days is Lincoln City.

Although it’s not a local derby, it has all the elements of one.
Meetings between the two are always well attended. There has consistently been over 9,000 fans at each of seven games between the two clubs since the Covid-19 lockdown.
It takes less than an hour and a half from Peterborough, by car or by train, and Posh fans living in Lincolnshire have an even shorter journey to Sincil Bank.
Fixtures are competitive too: three Posh wins, two Lincoln wins and two draws in the last seven games, with an aggregate score of 11-9 in Posh’s favour.
Both teams are in form, Lincoln are unbeaten in the league since 22nd November, Posh since 29th November.
It’s understandable why I am so excited for Sunday. It should be a great occasion.
However, there is another reason I’m looking forward to this particular day.
For the first time this season, Posh men and Posh women are playing on the same day, and by pure chance, they are both playing in Lincoln.
Yes, it’s an article about Posh women, but you’ve started reading now so you may as well continue.
Posh women traditionally play at 2pm on a Sunday and with the men’s game kicking off at 12pm, supporters of both Peterborough United sides have successfully campaigned to have the latter kick off time pushed back to 3pm.
This means fans can watch the men play at Sincil Bank at 12pm, before making their way to Ashby Avenue to see Posh women play against Lincoln United.
The two stadiums are a 15 minute drive apart or a 45 minute walk if you did want a Sunday afternoon stroll through the city.
Lincoln United have actually recently merged with Lincoln City to create one women’s side in the city, Lincoln WFC, effective from next season.
The side are not having a good season, sitting rock bottom of the table on one point.
Posh women are faring much better.
Unbeaten in the league and two points off leaders Boldmere St. Michaels with two games in hand.

Posh women have been extremely entertaining in the first half of the season, scoring 41 goals in 10 games. They were eliminated from the FA Cup in a 7-0 loss at Burnley on 14th December.
This match against Lincoln United will be their first since that defeat.
Posh women have already beaten Lincoln United 8-0 earlier in the season and will be looking at finishing the campaign with as many wins as possible and clinching the league title.
A promotion would take Posh women to the third tier of the women’s pyramid, a remarkable achievement and reflective of the great work done both on and off the pitch in the last couple of years.
This is a great opportunity for a football fan to watch two sides representing their club away from home on the same day. There won’t be many occasions in a lifetime when that is possible.
Tickets are priced at just £1 too according to Lincoln's social media, although this has not been confirmed by Posh.
It would be great to see as many Posh fans there as possible to turn what is already a great away day into a fantastic away day.
What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than watching Posh win twice?
See you there... if it's not called off!
