The new Posh kits, rated

With the release of the third kit this week, we have a full house of Posh tops for the new season.
Nick who runs the OldPoshShirts account on X knows a thing or two about Peterborough United kits.
So, we asked for his verdict…..
Pre-launch hopes
Whilst there has been a lot of criticism over the new badge, I was excited about what the updated
branding for the football club would mean for our kits.
Given the huge sums spent on rebranding the entire football club, I was initially expecting big things from the kit launches.
Home kit
Since moving to Puma, I’ve been generally impressed with the kit designs, with most home shirts incorporating aspects from classic Posh shirts, detailing Posh legends, or the map of the city.
Having bespoke shirts has been a breath of fresh air after years of templates under Nike and Adidas.
This year’s home shirt is underwhelming, and in my opinion rivals the 23/24 shirt as Puma’s weakest. It’s a template shirt, with no bespoke detailing other than the badge and sponsors, with no reference to Posh, PUFC, or Peterborough anywhere. I would also prefer to see us playing in white shorts.
It’s a 4/10 for me.
Away kit
Away kits ought to be a contrasting colour, not just for when we play teams in blue, but also for wet Tuesday nights against the likes of Plymouth. Traditionally for Posh this has been yellow (usually with blue trim), but we’ve now had pretty much every colour away shirt you could possibly imagine.
Not being restricted to a particular colour gives an opportunity to be more adventurous with the design and, unlike the home shirt, you don’t need to please everybody.
I generally like Posh wearing black away shirts, and I like that they’ve tried to do something different with the sponsor colours, but again, it’s a bit underwhelming to me.
There’s no mention of Posh, PUFC or Peterborough on it, other than the socks, and no bespoke detailing. Surely, they can include something like the outline of the cathedral, or the shape of the River Nene?
I’ll give it a 6/10.
Third kit
I know pink shirts aren’t to everyone’s taste, but as a father trying to encourage his two young daughters to be Posh fans, things are made a lot easier having a pink shirt.
In fact, this is the 8th time in the last 12 seasons that we’ve had an away/third shirt with at least some pink included. Again, it’s clearly a template, one that presumably won’t be used by too many teams, and again, it’s missing anything that links the shirt to our city.
The main feature is obviously the colour gradient on the sponsor, badge and logos.
I like this, but it’s weirdly lop-sided on all the images that I’ve seen so far.
I’ll give this one a 7/10, and no doubt I’ll be picking up a couple for my daughters in the week.
