Where next for the transfer listed eight?

We know that at least eight Peterborough United players will be looking for new clubs after they were officially transfer listed on Monday. Where will they end up? Being a helpful soul, I have found some English clubs that I think will suit our departing squad members…

George Nevett - Swindon Town

Age: 20 | Position: Central defender

I was slightly surprised to see Nevett on the transfer list. Although he has not performed particularly well, he is still very young, had a lot of hype when we signed him, and was arguably our Player of the Season under Darren Ferguson. That said, it is clear that he is not yet League One level.

I think Swindon would be a good place for Nevett to develop. Ian Holloway is demanding, but I do have faith in his ability to develop young players. Thomas Wilson-Brown, a Leicester loanee, played on the left of the Swindon back three this season as a natural left-footer. I think Nevett easily slots into that role.

His passing range will be very classy in League Two, and hopefully playing in a back three system will help to cover Nevett’s glaring lack of speed.

Klaidi Lolos - Crawley Town

Age: 25 | Position: Attacking midfielder

What a pointless signing Lolos was last summer. It reeked of pure desperation and poor planning. To be honest, Crawley fans know a lot more about Lolos than we do. He seems to play better football there, and so I think it makes sense as a destination for him.

That said, Lolos didn’t have a great loan spell in the second half of this season, so I could see him having to drop down to the National League for success.

Chris Conn-Clarke - Forest Green Rovers

Age: 24 | Position: Attacking midfielder

CCC has never kicked on at Posh, despite seeming like the most Peterborough United signing ever!

His loan spell at Carlisle was relatively unsuccessful, and their fans do not seem keen on the prospect of his return. Therefore, I think a move to play under Robbie Savage at Forest Green may be on the cards.

We know that Darragh MacAnthony has a good relationship with Savage, maybe he can use this to strike a deal.

Savage is a supportive manager, and Conn-Clarke could do with an arm around his shoulder to get his career back on track. Clear talent, but it just is not quite clicking for him at the moment.

Donay O’Brien-Brady - Bromley

Age: 22 | Position: Midfielder

The midfielder was said to be ‘coming to the party’ this season, yet has largely failed to impress across limited minutes. That said, out of the players on this list, he is probably the most ready to jump straight into another League One side.

In a midfield paired with the boundless energy of Ben Thompson, the anchoring and passing abilities of DOBB could serve them well in their bid to survive after promotion to the third tier. He would probably begin as a rotational option, but could quickly win a space in the first team, and as a 22 year-old, he still has capacity to improve.

Cian Hayes - Fleetwood Town

Age: 22 | Position: Right wing

Cian Hayes has given his absolute all across his two years at Posh, however it just has not worked out. As it stands, Hayes doesn’t quite have the final third prowess to operate in our highly technical system.

He was loved by Fleetwood fans, who were all rooting for him to go and smash it at Posh. Although that hasn’t happened, he could still go back to them and make himself a success. His ball carrying ability would be the absolute best in League Two, and he could single-handedly drag any team up the pitch under pressure.

Bradley Ihionvien - Colchester United

Age: 22 | Position: Striker

Brad became a Posh cult hero following a last minute equaliser at Wrexham in last season’s Vertu Trophy semi-final. Since then, unfortunately, his antics have been anything but heroic.

After a fall-out with Darren Ferguson, resulting in him being sent to Shrewsbury Town on loan, new manager Luke Williams will not take a chance on Ihionvien. There is undoubtedly a player in there, his hold-up play and striking instincts are impressive, and if he had really knuckled down there was a real chance he would be a successful League One forward.

A move back to his roots at Colchester would be good. It would allow him to stay in the area, and maybe going back to familiar surroundings would give his attitude the boost it needs. That said, I fear he may have burnt his bridges with the fans there following the pre-season friendly this season where there was some back and forth!

Declan Frith - AFC Wimbledon

Age: 23 | Position: Right wing

On the pitch, Declan Frith may feel slightly hard done by about the minutes he was given this season. After being billed as the next big thing, a replacement for Kwame Poku, he really has not kicked on this season.

That said, Frith has shown glimpses of quality this season, and may be an intelligent pick up for a lower end League One side. Wimbledon have a solid defensive core, but need to add some more impetus in the attacking areas to properly compete in League One. Frith offers something a bit different, being a skilful winger.

Paired with a good defence behind him, Wimbledon could unlock Frith, and get the player that Posh paid a decent fee for.

Abraham Odoh - Cambridge United

Age: 25 | Position: Left wing

Abraham Odoh is a phenomenal talent. I am devastated that we have decided to let him go, and would firmly implore Cambridge United to sign him up for a big price tag ASAP! 😉
